This was Sordoni's suite as I understand it. He owned the place for a time. I believe he was a senator as well.

I worked at this place from 1979 through 1980. I was 19 years old when I started working at Ypsilanti State Hospital. I was a Resident Care Aide III. In 1980, they changed the name to Ypsilanti Regional Psychiatric Hospital. At the time, I was also a student at Eastern Michigan. I was able to do quite a bit of studying on the job. I remember when they painted those "rainbows" on the walls. It believe it was in the summer of 1979, when they did the painting. Working at YRPH was quite an eye-opener for a 19 year old. Ohhhh.... the stories and images from that place I have emblazened into my mind.

I work in a mental health hospital as a nursing assistant and we have general rooms which we use for art therapy, music therapy etc and these are sometimes just referred to as 'exercise' rooms. I suppose for the patients exercising the mind is just as important as the body....
