This looks like a 78 rpm record player, look at the small spindle - also the tone arm looks like the Cobra type that Zenith manufactured (and supplied other companies with) which would date this unit from the late 40's on. The Cobra name came from the fact that the tone arm sort of resembled a snake, they would even paint little black dots where the eyes would be. I had several of these and they did sound great for playing 78s.
