Hospital-type institutions do not have carpet (or remains of it) in the halls. BTW, don't know how many people are aware that Waverly Hills is being renovated enough for safety and they keep it for the ghost hunt tours.
useful for kids with poor motor function so their hands aren't all over and they don't fall off the bed. It could also be possible that a kid could have an injury or condition requiring being still and not rolling over while sleeping.
I dont remember any acts of violence towards staff or patients during the seventies when I was a patient here locked up because I was not doing what I was told. I think if you confined any human being to a ward for twenty four hours a day acts of minor aggression would occur with the most normal of people. I do know that patients "went in the box " if they were deemed to be difficult and drugged up to the eyeball to pacify them when they came out.
Hello, Mister Motts if I'm allowed to call you that! haha, I've been fallowing your albums for quite a while and they more then intrigue me, I enjoy so much seeing old buildings such as this, it has always facinated me I'm not sure why, asylums mostly, finding this site has really kept me busy and very entertained, I wanted to thank you for all of the great photogrophy and to say I am very jelous of you mister! I hope one day I can do what you do and travel to abandoned places, learn their history and get some great memories it seems you have fun! though it is quite creepy at the say time, don't you ever get scared?
These doors seem to get bigger one after the other from the left down to over, did you know the reason for that? It's interesting in design and I'm wondering if there was a function for it, or is it just for show.
Thanks again for all the great pics and keeping us entertained, can't wait to see more!

I saw this on ghost hunters. I didn't know people here in the U.S. were treated like this ever. I saw people being treated like this in Mexico. You never forget. She's right. If you had seen something like this with your own eyes you wouldn't say such stupid crap.
After seeing the state of the place on these pages and on the BBC recently I think that the place should be demolished and turned into a lovely park . The gardens were the best bit of the hospital. Developers should not be allowed to make money from a place of human misery.
I am an ex patient and was here in one of these cells . It was a lock down facility for people going through extreme conditions like Psychosis which I had during an episode of schizophrenia when I was a youngster .Using cells like this is an infingement of human rights and an excuse for poor lazy nursing techniques. These places are very scary and the treatment is even worse , I lost two whole days of my life because they put people who are" difficult " unconsious through drug treatment and I still dont know what other " treatment" I recieved when I was asleep. I was on a lock up ward next door for a month . This bloody place still haunts me to this day and I will never forget the faces of some of the other frightened souls they imprisoned in these things.
I feel that they mean the lambs are the children and they are going up to heaven. They are the little lambs of God. The two at the bottom I think that who ever colored this is saying the two are mean and they stay there in the pit of hell or penn hurst. If you notice they are traveling up the side of the rainbow. That is just how I feel.
...Seriously-a suite with a balcony...don't think I've ever seen a hotel/apt. room like that.
