Fantastic architecture...

I've been to Pennhurst State School once. What i do know now is that the complex is being renovated for a haunted house for 2010's Halloween. Said to be the scariest haunted house the country has ever seen due to it being in an actual haunted location. I've been in and out of this place (with the exception of the tunnels - no flashlight, bummer!). It truly is an amazing place. I hope that we don't see it go anytime soon like it's predecessor Byberry, neighbor Haverford, and the mother of them all, Danvers.

And it can keep waiting....of course since it's now 2009 it's been waiting for, what, 15 years? Again...it can just keep on waiting....eww.

This seems to be an odd place for a....whatever the hell it is! I feel like there should be planters or something in there. ;-)

BTW, they are very dangerous, I knew people missing parts of hands, etc.

that would be a breakdown mill, where the rubber is heated up and made malleable before either being rolled off, or sent as astrip down a conveyor.

I worked on D, Daycenter, and Rec. then D again.
I've always wondered about the kids I met, and miss them still. It was a privilege to meet so many wonderful children, adults today but it still feels like it's today. Daycenter was closed and I went to rec. Street hockey, pool upstairs, rollerskating in town, 16mm movies and plants and gro lights downstairs. Tea time on D, schedules and talking, always talking.

Mr. Motts, this is defintely one of my favorite hallway shots!

remember doing my work placement here, upsetting to see such a magnificent buliding rotting away when it could be put to such good use, why have avondale when patients could have continued to have lovely surroundings like at whittingham????????????? and probably got better sooner as a result

went to lovely xmas concert many years ago, such a shame to see the state of things now. Why leave such a lovely buliding like whittingham to rot like this??????
