On 1/2/10 the Travel Channel showed a series on this place called Ghost Adventures. Catch the re-run if you get the chance. This facility looks like a college campus---huge. And all the bldgs are connected by underground tunnels. The GH team interviewed several doctors who were in their early 20's when they tended patients there and they told horror stories that Stephen King couldn't come up with.....for instance: if a patient had more than 3 incidents of biting staff members they'd get all their teeth pulled. And he clamied there were some 'retarded' kids there as infants that hadn't been taught how to walk by age 5 or 6. He also remembered 'criminals' sentenced to the facility who took sexual advantage of those unable to fend for themselves. All I could think of was the facilities Hitler set up in Nazi Germany to 'rid society' of 'undesirables' who were subjects of all kinds of experiments before being sent to 'the ovens'..........

I think this near the laundry room on either E or D. There were painted over thin window were you could see into the big corner room near the bobblers

my dad and i got boreded up in the power plant when we went inside, the front door was wide open when we got there and after exploring the whole building we came back to the sound of workers drilling the door shut. we had to sneak out a super tiny window so we wouldnt get caught.

I wish that poster was up at my office, they damn near killed me during my most recent gran-mal episode.

TRUE STORY!!!!!

I am a skeptic when it comes to ghosts or paranormal activity. I believe there is an explanation for everything. Well, I've been to that building a few times, going in only once in 2000.

I went into the building with a friend of mine who is a very big guy and is afraid of NOTHING. We saw writing on the walls, patient beds all over the place. We saw chairs that had devices on them that looked like shock therapy...I'm not an expert so I can't say for sure. We walked up about 4 flights of stairs and we began to hear what appeared to be scratching noises on the floor above us. We both thought it could have been rats or raccoons, but what happened next changed my thoughts on ghosts. We heard heavy breathing for a second or two followed by the loudest female scream I have ever heard. I kid you not, this wasn't something caught on an EVP or anything like that...this was a scream as if someone was getting murdered. I was terrified and looked at my buddy...he turned to me out of breath and said "Oh f*ck, RUN!". I jumped down every flight of stairs and ran out the building through the side window we entered. We met friends of ours outside who were waiting for us and they were like "WTF was that noise in there", so we knew we weren't the only ones who heard it.

A few months later another one of my friends wanted to see the building. I told him I would take him to see it but that I wasn't going anywhere close to it nor inside it. Well, we got about 75 yards away when we both heard a loud bang from the inside of the building. Sounded like someone hit the bass drum up there as loud as they could. We crouched down in fear and waiting 5 minutes before proceeding. As soon as we took another few steps, we heard the bang again. Needless to say we turned around and hightailed it out of there.

I grew up in that area and know first hand the rumors and stories associated with this place. I can also tell you first hand that I have heard things and felt things in there that are definitely not friendly. The Kings Park Insane Assylum is a terrifying place and is definitely a haunted spot. If you're crazy enough to go inside, I suggest you proceed with extreme caution.

If you'd like to explore places like this from your own home, play Silent Hill 1 for Playstation (or PS2). Then play Silent Hill 2 for Playstation 2. Both have hospitals like this. SH2 has a jail like this and a morgue. Creepy, close, and you can't get arrested for being there.

I am an amateur photography who specifically likes to photograph abandoned buildings. I live not far from Glenn Dale and have always toyed with the idea of visiting Glenn Dale to shoot but have always been afraid of getting caught. Does anyone have any recent stories of exploring Glenn Dale? I've heard that if you approach the police instead of sneaking around they might be more willing to let you explore? I don't necessarily want to go into any of the buildings, but I would like to explore and photograph the grounds, preferably in the day light.
