Interestingly and ironically, the passenger steamer Eastland suffered a fate similar to these boats. (poor top-heavy construction and being over capacity caused the rollover at the dock in Chicago)

Night: my claustrophobic panic would result from being in a submarine unable to surface.
Twug, in the case of drowning, I would hope to black out quick and not spend minutes prior fighting for air...or does that only happen from suffrocation due to something held over someone's face?

Seeing all these boats, I imagine a graveyard at the Great Lakes would look similar, with the earlier Ann Arbor RR ferries.

I have spent countless hours viewing your work over the last 5 years or so, and being an artist myself, I must say that your work has done much to influence my own oeuvre-

I recently moved from Oregon State to Boston to Study @ an art college here for a semester, and am hoping to explore whatever is left of the Mass Kirkbrides, though I fear that there isn't much-

I am considering going into architecture as a career, and have been designing my dream house for the past decade (If I am ever to have the means) and much of the overall scheme is based upon Kirkbride Design, which I hope to learn much more about...

I hope to pay homage to these lost edifices through contemporary design. and your photographs have done much to influence my thinking.

If you are interested in locations on the west coast, please let me know, I know of several hospitals (some looking kirkbride'ish though I am not absolutely sure if that is how they would be classified), and some cottage plans...

Given your mobility, you are likely to already have connections there, nevertheless, feel free to let me know...I think that they may have attributes that would satiate your developed tastes...
