The perspective of this shot is insane and intriguing all the same, and while the colors are more neutral and even in their tones, it's still beautiful with the contrast and the sharpness.

I know back in the old days they used to put mental patients in boxes or cages as a form of treatment, hope t god that is not what this is.

Rooms in hospitals use a double door system for patients that are contagious. The outer door opens into a small area that is just big enough to keep the needed supplies. The supplies are like the ones you see on surgeons. The front is closed , it has ties in the back.
There are also gloves, masks, even caps to cover your hair. All equipment taken into this area stays there until the patient leaves and then is destroyed. There are also laundry bags to put the clothing in when you come out. And a sink for washing. This almost could be an early attempt to do this. It is against protocol to have both doors open at once. These special rooms, with increased air exchanges, are specially built.

I used to be a CNA and we used those in the nursing homes it's odd but I don't see the splash guard and the high pressure hose seems to be missing as well. The hopper room always smelled gross at the nursing home.

I played in the Billy Alfred Orchestra in the Persian Room, while Speedy Garfin was killing them in the lounge, for two summers, 1973-74 and two winters (weekends) and I just found this site. At the time I was just 23 and now, seeing these beautiful, yet sad pictures 36 years later, I am moved. As with anyone who worked there or was a guest, i had so many fantastic things happen. I got to play for so many comics, singers, and dancers, and experience so many "firsts" in my life that now, looking back, I miss it more than I ever realized.
