Just wanted to let everyone know that the building is now gone, it has been taken down and demolished, all that is left is rubble and piles and piles of debris....

I just wanted to let everyone know that Gaebler is now down, the entire building has completely down on Tuesday 11/16/10, now it's just a pile rubble. It looks scary, I didn't get pictures cause the police are parolling it all the time and already got caught once but, was able to talk my way out of it, even thou I wasn't near ther building I was at the end of the driveway and the sign says no tresspassing, so I was lucky I could have gotten arrested. Anyway, I am going to try this weekend and take pictures of it all down and what is left of the rubble and piles of bricks and crap. I will keep everyone updated to the best of my knowledge....

ive never traveld here to see the site even though i live within 30 miles of it. However, i have seen videos of the "hotel" as my previous job was taking care of mentally disabled people. Some of my consumers were actually patients here when it was the asylum and they were tortured. The videos we had to watch depicted a scary, awful place, nothing like what has been captured with your photographs!

don't you think they could have made a real nice hosp there, say like a mass general, plenty of parking, life flight landing, easy to get to, its on the major highway, boston is so confusing for some people like me. oh well, its done.

@Larry-Love your commentary about the past lives of these two devoted souls. It is interesting to think back on how their lives must have been, and how they have come full circle into heavenly eternity. Life passes by so quickly...we need to treasure each moment. Hope everyone out there has a warm and wonderful Thanksgiving! : )

I actually really like this picture. I prefer the pictures you do without the model, but this one is just really beautiful. She doesn't look out of place like she does in some of the others.

I actually think she takes away from the beauty of your photography. I mean, she is very pretty. But she reminds me of the mall goths I went to school with who hung out in graveyards and abandoned buildings and took forlorn pictures of themselves to put on Myspace. Or rather the photos with her in them reminds me of that.

I think she would fit in a lot better without the wings. But I enjoy just the decay of the structures.

I also grant that it seems odd that a card bearing a New Jersey dentist's name as "director" was found in a hospital quite far from New Jersey, but I notice that theccard does not include the name of that hospital so it seems that there could be a number of explanations. But to my knowledge (and to that of my cousin who worked very hard to "map" the Barry family tree) the only dentist in the US in that time period with that name was my grandfather.
