Wow ! It is amazing how well the lamp shade has held up when you compare it to the total deterioration of the rest of the room. This makes me wonder what secret chemical compound that the lamp shade is made out of.

It's a telex. before fax machines, and computer networks, those could be used to send typewritten documents over the standard analog telephone lines. They also store documents in a paper-tape form as well. I had one when I was a kid.

Not to reveal my age, but I remember when these were in service in the US, along side the first rotary fax machines, where you put a piece of paper on a drum, locked it down, closed the lid, the drum and paper would rotate and a stylus went back and forth to print out the fax. One page took about three-four minutes and you could barely read it. Times sure have changed.

I would give my first born for that piece of equipment (if I had a first born!)
