@Andy--You are correct, but I don't think it was a treadmill, it was a stationary bicycle. In this building, it was probably for physical therapy.

I meant the machines all had unique adresses like an IP address.

Telex/Teletypes were the forerunners of the fax machine. they were still in use into the 90's because some countries did not recognize faxes as legal documents but the telex was because it had a unique code much like an IP address.

Cool unit! I jut bought a pretty mint one like this, minus the on board generator, at a swap meet. Perfect cabinet, dials, glass, knobs. Thought I might wire some blinking lights, some sounds, and put it in my home theater, which has a mostly sci-fi theme.

@Claudia, you're more correct than you may realize. This is an early 1960s piece that was influenced by the Space Race during the Cold War. Lots of "modern" furniture, light fixtures, architecture, clothing, and even cars were influenced by the USSR and US Space Programs.

Beautiful stair railing. Another detail with French/Art Deco architecture.

Lovely French doors and arch. This would be worth a fortune at a home salvage yard.

The last couple of galleries or so, I've noticed some remarkable light fixtures. It's easy to envision this space as a dining hall or perhaps a meeting room with that small stage and alcove. Nevertheless, if those walls could talk, what tales they could tell.

Excellent composition and use of light. The yellow tile is actually rather nice.
