Angela you can call the State Health Department and ask about the records storage procedures for hospital shutdowns. There may be a State Hospital licensing agency as well.
You could also see about going there and looking through these files since they appear to be abandoned.
Does anyone here know what happened to the patient records from Taunton State Hospital? I just recently found out that my great-great grandmother died there and would love to try and get her records. Any help is greatly appreciated.
This was the passage way between B and C buildings. It was the hall we took the patients to when we tranported them to the HUGE dining hall. Very institutional even for it's time when I was there...during the 70's and 80's. Lots of visiting in that dining room both between patients AND staff. I think alot of dates were made there both by patients AND staff. Anyone reading this remember "bush therapy"?...LOL
I worked there in the 70's and 80's...best job I ever had btw. These photos bring back many good memories, but on the other hand very sad to see the ruins. Still makes me all nostalgic when I drive by there and see the place where the buildings stood and the golf course once was. Working there was like working with a huge family...then all gathered at the Club 23 after work. Hope some past friends from there read this post/
'How' is the first word the person wrote to start the note. When he realized that wasn't the way he wanted to start the note, he turned the paper around & wrote a new one.
Last night was the 2nd time my team has come here, but this was my 6th or 7th visit. After about a hour of exploring the 3 levels, we heard some ruckus outside and there were 2 cars and a motorcycle parking next to my car...I was kind of freaked out by other visitors, but they stayed out of the way....Mostly kids who were there to look around or whatever.
We picked up a great Class A EVP, on the third floor of the Reville Building. I stayed in the stairwell, in between the second and third floors with M because I was suddenly seriously overcome with a wave of emotion and became hysterical very fast.
After a couple minutes...i heard commotion going on down the hall...and as i peaked around the corner, i saw flashlights go running by the far end of the hall...turn around and come back.....and then E was yelling my name....
He said that him and B both heard me screaming...even thought i wasnt....and then went to run back to me and the door wasnt there...B said she felt a push right before they came running down the hallway towards M and I. And after listening to the EVP session... right before they start asking questions, There is a female voice that clearly says "Are you here? Are.....You.....Leaving? Hello?"
Theres also a high pitched whistle through out the whole session they said they couldnt hear in real time.
There has been other incidences where E and B has seen shadows or shimmery light holding me, cupping my face and even one instance, comforting me. The spirits/entities like to get in my personal space for some reason. haha.
Just be careful exploring this part of Letchworth. Its falling into bad shape over the last 15 years of neglect. Its crazy watching how things change so drastic over time. The first time I came was only 4 or 5 years after it closed...and it was in much better shape with tons of artifacts........I just wish kids, that are only there to drink or spray paint or destroy things, would stay out of these places.
Its crazy to see all the pictures. The pictures are great the really kind of show the hospitals history. I like the stories of the history of the hospital its amazign how much medical things have advanced from what they where to what they are now. It freaks me out to see how people where treated back then.
