I know what you mean, eldokid, maybe set up a museum with all the things. Show what it was like during the era these places were open & what patients & staff used in the day to day life in them.
Yeah, part of the urbex "code" is not to take anything except pictures (leaving it for the next explorer), and only minimally move something (if it would add something to the shot, and it's not too destructive of the original state). Correct me if I'm wrong :) It is sorely tempting to take a memento, though.
my name is levi ryan and i would love to talk to any patient or worker that had contact with this place. just curios questions n.n leviryan1@hotmail.com
The architechure of this building is truly impressive. However, for me, being the son of my mother whom was institutionalized there for the majority of my childhood, I see it in a different perspective. I would visit my mother there even before my teens. From a childs eyes and ears, I saw it as house of horrors where there were patients crying, sometimes screaming, with the scent of psyhotropic medications in the air and worse horrors that I like to recall. I am 55 years old now, and in short, my memories of this hospital are one of exteme sadness, not only for my mother, but the reality that the treatment of severe mental illness still remains at its infant stage.
renee: I also have the same equipment (stock #6-013-680). If you happen to get any responses, I'd be interested. I also have the 6' stand that goes with the overall field set-up if you don't. Might make your set more valuable, so let me know if you need/want it. Part of my set is missing, but the parts that are left, including the x-ray replacement tube and some other hardware are in mint condition as well. I see a lot of offering of this stuff for four-figure numbers, but not sure if anyone's buying. Anyone here have any thoughts on that?
