The arched ceiling gives this corridor a sacral feeling and look, charcterless and calm. Could be anything; a church, a castle, a monastery, an old museum.........

As always, you find a wheelchair. Spookiest item to find intact.

Is it a Stryker frame? They used it for people that were paralyzed or burned. Strapped them in like a sandwich and turned them every 2 hours. Does it look like that to you Lynne?

We used something like that to shake down the old glass mercury thermometers also.

It is surprising to see such vibrant colors. They usually used subdued colors to keep the patients calm.

I am wondering if the wide halls aren't for moving beds? Especially if they were using ECT. It would be easier to move the person in their bed...

I wonder if that was a predecessor to the "pill-minder" of today? Maybe pills in cards?

Actually the abandoned photo isn't the same room as the photo below, this abandoned room is somewhat of a mystery to me. My best guess is it is the eastern wing building's lower floor. Possibly it could also be the lower floor of the building on the opposite side of the courtyard. But my bets go for eastern east wing building. The one with the turret.

The architecture here is quite different also, and the turret building's lower level was remade at some point. It used to be a huge open porch. Which could explain the different style.

One more thing, this is the eastern wing stairwell.

What you are looking at in this photo is the stairs midway between the 2nd Floor and 3rd Floor ( translation 3rd and 4th ) the central window that leads out to an inverted part of the building. There are many windows in this inverted part... I don't know if there is an official name for that particular architecture. But these windows are midway between every aboveground floor.

Also the window above, is actually a gable dormer.

Really do like openable windows above door; that way, door may be shut/locked, with window open, the patient inside in contact with the world outside the room. Could be good.
