It's so weird how inconsistent the signage is here.

It must be really hard for you, Joe, I've heard various accounts of life at Saint Margarets, and not all of them good. I'm glad there was one decent doctor who cared enough about your brother to try and make a difference.

Yes, the architecture is quite something, but a lot of troubled souls must have passed through the building, many of them not always well looked after. I think it's probably better that it doesn't exist any more.

I remember riding my bike past this entrance many times. I would look up and see the prisoners yelling from the windows, sometimes I'd take a message to the neighborhood older girls or their mothers for them. There were many prisoners in that building that also were from the same neighborhood. I was only ten years old. Thanks for all the great pictures.

Have thought about getting the shovel out of the
back shed to do the dig and was warned against
it by the ambos in the area.(my partner being one
as well)If i get through the plug which was used
to seal the tunnel off,the gas behind it would be
overwelming and take out the people involved in

I wish to my soul these so-called ''recyclers'' would quit going in and taking other peoples' property! It's NOT scrap until the ''thieves'' get their hands on it! It's still possibly useful wiring in a building, it's a beautiful & decorative stairway banister that a proud craftsman took time to make, or it's something else they take from an old property that's one of a kind and can't ever be replaced! They can call it looking for & collecting scrap, and recycling...but I call it STEALING, plain and simple. And in case you didn't notice, it REALLY ticks me off!

I got the impression, when I first saw it, that it could be a small theatre or rec room. Or it could be a multi-purpose room?
