We're looking at the business end of a couple of what were probably some of the original boilers in this plant—since the place goes back almost to the beginning of the 20th Century. The machinery above the "pond" is the sets of stokers. These are a system of rams that push raw crushed lumps of coal into the bottom of the boiler where they are burned in a bed of fuel above a set of air grates called tuyères. You can see the chutes above them that feed fuel from the bunkers way above into the hoppers. The motor that runs the rams (they look like engine crankshaft bearings) is missing. It used to be up on what looks like a small balcony in the upper right portion of the picture. You can see the belt housing that runs down to the boiler floor and connects to another set of pulleys that run the shaft connected to the gear boxes (the rounded covers with rectangular plates facing out). I believe (but I'm not sure) that the hand wheels with the round cutouts control the speed of the rams or the depth of the pushers to regulate how fast the the fuel is admitted. As for the toxicity of the water—not very. It is algae and probably cyanobacteria making it green. If it were deep enough guppies would be happy to live there. Oh yeah, I used to work for BG&E in the 70s. I was up at the Pratt Street Station which now houses a Hard Rock Café. Thanks for the great pictures. I always wanted to see the Westport Station but never got placed there because it was on its way out even then.

This was one of the most haunted places in the usa i seen so many orbs and creepy dismembered bodies floating around the casket room as they seemed to be waiting for there caskets i took many pictures and u could see dismembered bodies floating in and out of them creepy old caskets so many lost souls it was just pure sickness in this crazy place enter if u dare!!!! Be careful not to take home and visitors as they do attach themselves to you it happened to me this orb seemed to hitchhike home with me as i left i felt strange as i went back to the car i seen this crazy reddish orb flying in and out of my car i also have pictures of crazy zombie orb it seemed to dissapair as i drove to my hotel room as i went to bed that night there was strange noises as i thought i was dreaming there were orbs flying around the room seem like they were having a party just slowly flying into each other as morning came i drove back home it was 12 hour drive as i was pulling into my driveway i see the same reddish orb fly through my front door and dissapear ever since then my home is now haunted by this strange orb i cant seem to get rid of this orb i have had paranormal investgators there and they made contact with this orb i got lucky the orb flew into one of the female investagtors and i never seen it again and my home is now normal again i think if i would have had been wearing my cross it would have helped me out now when i explorer i bring holy water and my cross with me!!! Thank god the orb left my home i will never enter that place again!!!!

What can i say about the hall of doors as i entered there was a very eery silence as i entered this hall of demon doors ive never seen so many orbs flying around it is very scary as u enter as i was looking in the rooms i heard very scary voices talking and crying and evil screams as i was leaving every door u see in this picture slammed shut so hard it was really scary so i went back in to investgate the doors all came open at once!!! I was so scared i peed my pants and ran out as i was running out i was shoved into the 2nd room on the right side of the hallway of horror the door got slammed shut on me and i was locked in and coould not get out its a good thing i was with a few friends that were standing down the oppsite end of the hall and they helped me escape the evil hallway of horror!!!!

This place gave me the creeps when i visited there it is so haunted by very crazyness and ive seen several orbs flying in and out of rooms really crazy things going on here if you want to get creeped out just come here!!! Witness evil here!!!! Pure demons and evil crazy voices all over this place it is so haunted!!!! Enter if your not scared to get hit by demonic creatures flying in and out of your body so so creepy there was one thing i seen it looked to be Freddy Crougar looking image in boiler room i could see and hear this very creapy man scratching his razor fingers across the walls and slamming of boiler doors scared the living daylights out of me i will never forget the boiler room and the Freddy Crougar lunatic haunting the boiler room!!!! Never enter this area unless u want to see Freddy!!!!
