Weird. The architecture (spelling right?) of the building reminds me of a level of a video game - Second Sight - where you have to invade an asylum in Vermont. Anyway. I haven't been near the medical buildings long enough to explore (with friends, and time was against us) so that stunk. But yeah, check out El Peecho's site. Good!

Did they make some of the patients do the work of others??

I made a Counter-Strike map on this! But the map is pretty poorly done. Oh well. And silkster, go to elpeecho.com and look for the Pennhurst info or whatever link.

Ah, that sucks about the arrest... Drie's a really cool person, you'll have a blast at the places she frequents!

I'll admit, the wheelchair was slightly behind the door in the shadows, so yes I moved it up a little.

I have often wondered why so much stuff is left behind to rot in these abandoned places. The thing that is most crazy is how many patient records are left behind...I'll never understand that.

Motts your photos are AMAZING and your comments on the pics are compassionate and insightful. An awesome body of work...many thanks!

these are actually 4-cylinder reciprocating steam engines. the cylinders are inside the rusted box at the top, which is probably a water jacket to keep things cool. the crankshaft at the bottom drives the generator (under the cloth).. the access ports in the middle get to the connecting rods.

That brings back some rather bad memories. When I was a Peds othopedic case at a general hospital in West Virginia. Only diffrence was the cribs there had little notches for a lid for the more unruly peds paitents. I got the lid at one point.

Jeez...if I didn't know better, I'd say this was [ removed by admin ]. I scouted this place out but the police presence was daunting, so I neglected to enter.

I have this shot, and some other almost identical shots. I have the good fortune of living 25 minutes away. I just reciently discovered Urban Exploration, thanks to my new partner in crime Drie, she has big plans about where shes going to take me.
And Millbrook cops are deffinatly the worst ever, I got arrested here a few years ago.
