Very interesting. Definetly looks like some kind of ventilator.

Places like this should be restored and re-used for another purpose. Almost painful to look at.
i worked at the pines as a teen many years ago. the hotel was one of the lesser of the Sullivan County hotels but not any less grander. the hotel had both summer and winter skating rinks, ski area, golf corse, indoor and outdoor pool night club and many little shops. if you were to step back from the picture shown there were windows that you could view the club show from the lounge. outside to the right was a most grand outdoor pool. even though the hotel is close i do believe that the 9 hole golf course is still open for public use.
i gave my e-mail as my id so anyone could write me. i know many locations and stories of sullivan county / catskill hotels.

Have you ever had any problems with other 'guests' at these facilities?

The way that cheesy blockwork is lit is almost surreal!
another great shot!
When I worked at a state hospital, the maintenance workers had to document each item and place a sticker on it to show that it had been inspected, that report was sent to DGS (Department of General Services) It was done for safety as well as inventory on anything that was electrical.
Ilaynay, maybe you just need someone to be there to point them out to you, im sure you would see what we are talking about. They are most likely paint peeling off the walls, (the one in the blue room is pretty realistic though) some of them are pretty interesting. (it might also depend on what kind of monitor your using too...)
As for the "Midnight tour" Im game for that!!

these was...by far...my favorite series of photos. i'm originally from massachusetts (attempted many times to get into danvers...unsuccessfully) and have always had a great interest in abandoned homes. allowing my mind to wonder about years past...were the families inside happy? where did they go? where are they now? i often think about christmases and birthdays celebrated during better times...

this particular series makes me teary eyed.

i now live in tulsa, oklahoma and have started scoping out different areas and old neighborhoods. old shacks/homes left during the dustbowl...burned foundations of homes and businesses left behind after the huge race riot earlier in the 1900's.

old homes left behind in the once thriving brady district (once the richest area in tulsa...it is now inhabited by the truly destitute)...stairways and cement paths leading to nothing...

man. i ramble.

anyway. amazing site. absolutely.
which hallway is that? I dont recognize it at all.
