Well, it didn't look so creepy back when it was operational...

Also, I'm sure most, if not all of the families who put their children here did not know what it was like back in the wards... perhaps all they saw was the wonderfully decorated administration building.

Kind of like a state sponsored peepshow.
Actually, this is Cinderella's castle. There were dioramas all throughout the castle that played the story out. They were set behind those huge stone frames you see in this picture.
The hole is the result of arson.
There was an Alice in Wonderland/tea cup ride also in the EF. The ride brought you underground.
There was a tree above the tunnel that you were able to see Alice suspended in mid air, as she fell through the white rabbits hole.
She could also be seen in the tunnel falling, along with other dioramas that played the story of Alice out.
Actually, I live in Maine now, but lived in Maryland in 1967, when I went to the EF.
I am a member of The Enchanted Forest Preservation Society .

We tried our best to reopen the EF on its original historic soil, but it was not meant to be.
Clark's Elioak Farm has been given what remains in the EF.
Figures to the dioramas were either given, sold, or stolen years ago.
The only problem for the farm is that it has to find a way to remove and relocate the remaining structures with their own funds.
Quite a bit has been moved. But lack of funds has things at a standstill.
There is a d.v.d available on Nan Sherman's websites of America site and at the farm.
Nan's site has pictures, rumors, history, etc of the EF.
This d.v.d was filmed the last day the park was owned by the wonderful family that created it.
It is 20.00 and to me worth every penny!
Part of it's sale goes towards the relocation of these structures.
What a wonderful place this was.
You wouldn't believe everything that was there, and luckily the d.v.d presents itself like a stroll through the EF.
We don't encourage trespassing for fear that Kimco will back out of their deal with the farm.
But these pictures are just beautiful to me.
I'm so glad I found them.
This is Cinderella's castle.
The picture marked "Alien Light" on here is a result of arson that happened to a little building that stood where that hole in the ceiling is now.
There were enormous dioramas all throughout the castle that told you the story of Cinderella.
A magical place. One I will NEVER forget.
And yes, will ALWAYS be enchanting to me whether open or closed....

I try not to publish where these places are.

I love this shot.

However, I admit that after having taken the laundry out of laundry bags many a night at an institution (helping third shift fold laundry while doing in-service training) I would definitely NOT be waiting in an expectant manner for what comes out of the old laundry chute.

=8-o

Great shot - very interesting composition. But after ~Me got me last time, I shan't make nary a comment about the size of these vessels. :-( [pouting]
