I went to Glen Dale Hospital, several weeks ago. This was the first time I went there & to any other abandoned bulding. I've fallen in love with the buildings! OMG. I didn't get to see this buliding because we went towards where the police station was. Laters. =P

It might've been in the building right next to the power plant.

Yep the ceilings are arched, it's probably for supporting all that weight over such a large open area.

Are the ceilings really slightly arched like that or is it the way that the picture was taken?

That baby really should be in a museum. Talk about time-warp.
I wonder if you can get Sky TV on that thing :-)
At first I thought it was odd that this installation couldn't be re-used for some other non-military communications function, but then I guess in spite of it's hi-tech appearance it's probably as antiquated as an Apollo rocket would be today.

Here in the UK old structures like this from the early years of the communications age are being listed (protected by law) and renovated.
This so reminds me of the dish in Return of the Jedi which Han Solo & Leia destroy with the help of the Wookies!

Must just be the way it points above the trees like that. Geek moment over...

Ah I see. What in the UK we'd call 'borstal' or a young offenders institution. I was wandering around the grounds of one in Leeds a few days ago, been derelict about a year (no chance of gettin inside the buildings though, EVERY single access point is sealed tighter than a camel's ass in a sandstorm :( - probably because there are a few stories circulating about some rather high-profile offenders who lived there before it closed.
Ginsu Victim, I'm with you on the calendar idea. I'd also love to have framed prints of a few of these images for the walls of my big, dilapidated Victorian house - they're so cool and would suit the place to a T...
