was there custody of me was given to the state and no one wanted a sick (diabetic) child spent 4 years there some of the peoples names were jeff, Darryl, beth, Maureen, sherry and several others been have a lot of nightmares and some of the abuse rituals were horrifying I need to find out what happened to me there and why I do remember one night I didn't eat my dinner and was beaten after being put in lock down room.
I worked here when I was 18 years old , that is like 40 years ago. Gosh this place was full of people. I remember what it looked like , the beds were all lined up in rows, nice shiny tiled floors , bathrooms were a little ugly , and smelled very bad. My job was in housekeeping , and one day as I was in my little utility closet filling my bucket to wash floors, one of the residents came in and shut the door, there was no where for me to go , it was a closet with a sink and some cleaning supplies ,she shut the door slapped me in the butt , laughed and left. Let me tell you at 18 I was really scared. There was another women there who sat out in the stairwell screaming all day long, she didn't stop that is what she did. I can't believe it is 40 years later. I would love to go back and look around , can you even get in that place anymore. Do they still have buildings on the property ? Well I just wanted to share my story.
Wow!Look at the markings on the end KWO refers to a specific department I think from my research of this sit.Could have been wiring for bombs or aircraft. Or maybe even wiring for the housing the filled the island with. Amazing and tragic history still being uncovered. There were over 9,000 inmates that were held in the basement area as a 24 hour labor source. It is a place of death in the pursuit of war. It should be preserved and memorialized as hallowed ground.
Great pics. What a shame that the technologies were born of such horrendous human suffering. It casts a dark shadow upon them that has put this location in utter and complete darkness for 50 years.
I went to this college. There was nothing scary about it.
I heard that a fence was put around it in Oct. or Nov of 2011 to keep people out because it is to dangerous to walk through.
Ummm yeah Decay in Ruins....news flash.... I dont know who gave you the idea or told you that its legal to walk the grounds because they are arresting anyone who goes on the grounds its not legal and you will be arrested on the spot for tresspassing.....
smt your a freakin moron!!!! I take offense to your statement as Taunton is not filled with hookers unless your soliciting them yourself and its not filled with drug dealers and gangsta wannabes!!! My mother has lived there all her life and I go up there often and Taunton is no different than any other city in Mass or Rhode Island so keep you opinions to yourself unless your an expert or your one of those supposed hooker, drug dealers or gangsta wannabes..................
