you guys think ladd rocks? Try taking care of the patients who are still alive. Its a saddddd situation daily.

i lived on ph grounds in a trailer park just under womens building in 1972 for 2years after the flood it wasnt bad . they didnt bother us . and we made friends with some in mates...this was a theater they showed movies .we got to go to see them with a black woman named hellen who lived there. later my mom worked there ..she was an aid..she used to pray for them .she saw the hurt in their eyes ..it was a home to them.

My eyes went crossed after a while..

Its a converted Fire Alarm call point, these are normally red so it has defo been painted yellow and instead of glass where the button is there has been a blanking plate put in and where the label that says "panic button" is it normally says "FIRE" in black writing. I would say its fairly new at least within the last 10 years defo

My mom and dad worked there for part of one summer while they were in college back in the late 1970's. My dad's mom also worked there for a bit at the same time and the few stories they told me are quite frightening. I don't know what area they worked in, but my mom told me that there were several times she was terrified of the patients. They would lose thier temper and sometimes hit the workers. She said she saw many patients that had to be sedated b/c of attacking another patient or a worker. My mom quit after working there for a few weeks after she saw another female employee badly attacked by a patient.

i doubt there are many homeless people that stay there b/c there are military gaurds and police that patrol the area b/c the property is now under military control. I know several friends that have had close calls with getting caught tresspassing on the property at night. I've seen some of the former patients of Pennhurst wandering around Royersford.

Looks like pretty standard construction for late 18th and 19th century brick foundations. The arched brick "tunnels" are crossed by walls that support the floor above. You can see a similar structure (although on a larger scale) exposed at Fort Pulaski, near Savannah Georgia. During the Civil War, a group of confederate soldiers used the "tunnels" formed by the arches in an escape attempt.

I grew up in Emsworth. The entrance to Dixmont had to large pillars inside the gate was a white house on the right where Dr Camarata and his family lived. I played with the younger daughter Susan many times. The buildings at that time were beautiful and the place was always busy. The patients worked on the grounds you would see the trucks with men in the back standing with garden tools. They had guards that would watch the patients work so they wouldnt escape this was in the 1950's

Bri - I have used simple red food coloring in light corn syrup, it works very well. My guess is that's what Candace used. Under the brand name Karo syrup, you can get it in any grocery store in the syrup aisle.

alot of them were just left their. They locked the doors
and left and never looked back. Some of the people who were locked in escaped. When i went their a few weeks ago i did see a few people in the woods. The people who didnt escape stayed and died then a few mounths after they closed a crew went back to remove the bodys and put them all in the feilds outside.

the curtain pulled bak like that makes it feels like someone would be standing there looking out the window. very creepy. love it tho
