My guess is this room was where the speech and language pathologist worked and these were items used to help students understand certain phonetic sounds and then matching the sound with the "dipthongs!" (fox trot)
They probably used these as a game. possibly to match the sound to the pic, you know simple stuff like that...... pic of cow and the sound "ou" idk...
