To whom it may concern,

I've gotten an email claiming this photo is someone else's, this "NoX" person...

I don't know why these claims are being made, but every photo in the galleries on this site were taken by myself, with the exception of Drew's Northampton morgue shot, which was credited and given permission to use.

This accusation is incredulous and false. I have the high resolution file, with the time, date, camera make and model, as well as four witnesses who were with me that day. Why would I steal one shot from someone else?

I have a color version with EXIF data embedded in: http://www.opacity.us/...ent/byberry_exif.jpg

If you want to press a lawsuit, bring it on dude. Otherwise, you're a sorry excuse for a person to try and pull this shit. Have a nice day.

The issue of political correctness and outdated medical terms was getting out of hand and has been removed. If you'd like to discuss this, feel free to start a discussion in the Mental Health fourm: http://www.opacity.us/forum/viewforum.php?f=6

Thanks :)

Nah, the place was pretty cleaned out so I assumed they were all empty... plus I'm not sure I'd have the patience to go through all the drawers in the entire place!

I wouldn't start breaking things to get a better photo.

Most photos convey the real colors of the place, and a few are altered to suit the photo artistically (mostly infrared and light painted photos).

Thanks! The sounds of dripping water usually echo throughout the place. It's always very quiet unless it's a windy day; then you hear the wind howling through the structure, panes of glass rattling in their frames, and doors slamming shut and creaking open.

Some of the more unpleasant noises I've heard quite a few times: the crunch of tires on gravel from a cruiser patrolling outside, the thumping and screaming hiss of steam through semi-active tunnels, the noises of construction workers and hospital staff working just outside, and the heavy boots crunching along the paint covered floor as you're hiding out from the officer looking for you!

Yup, I've seen many bowling alleys! Pools are much less common (and much more dangerous), but some psych hospitals have a recreation building with one (KPPC, Riverside).

They still use many of the old buildings on campus. Could be rented out or state agencies.

This was shot in infrared on a Sony F-707, which is actually an apple green color straight out of the camera. I moved the hue over a bit to the yellow color because I liked the "old paper" effect it had :)
