What prompted you to give it the name of Dr. Caligari's stairwell?

Thank you for these incredible photos. I live near this facility and used to work at Phoenix House (which is on the Ladd School property). I have always wanted to see the inside of these buildings. It used to give me the creeps just having to drive through them every day. You can really feel the ghosts in this place. Thank you!

My parents were patients at Glenn
Dale Hospital in the late 1940's. They have some great stories about living there and about them all being somewhat labrats at the time, due to no real knowledge of TB. Infact, my parents met at Glenn Dale while patients, and my Godparents, she my mothers roommate and he my daddys' roommate also met there and then married when they were released. At the time, it wasn't the scary looking place as all the pic's nowadays show. Daddy does remember seeing as many as 5 or 6 "deadwagons" as he calls them lined up around back in the mornings sometimes. Thank God scientists and Doctors have worked so hard since then to learn more and treat disease as they do nowadays!! TB treatment was unbelieveable at that time . Somethings you wouldn't believe.
