my friend and i were just out there, literally about an hour ago! we snuck back and explored. the entire little abandoned street and area gives an erie feeling. so glad we found this site an read up on yet another theory as to what this place used to be. thanks!

Yes this was a very scary place. When I was about 10 (about 1964) the dance school I went to went to the Dever State Hospital and performed for the children. I was very very sad, they were not taken care of at all and at that time the children were consider retarded, but as I look back most of them had Down's Syndrome I can still remember their faces and hands reaching out to us. Very sad.

I grew up near this hospital. I spent observing this site from Commack Road when I was young. I recently met a nurse that worked in this hospital many years ago and she told me that all the scary stories that we heard as youngsters were all true.

yeah but some of the cells in a prison had a place to use the bathroom did any of theses rooms have that? what i have seen in this picture i can't really tell if they had to go to the bathroom wut did they have to do use it on there selfs?
