Green is the opposite color of red, so if you did surgery a lot it was supposed to help the surgeons' eyes adjust when they looked up while operating. Don't know why they used it in psych hospitals. I think regular hospitals used it so much that paint companies produced mass quantities and it was cheaper. God, I hate that color after all these years, though, and any time I work at a new hospital I beg them to paint over this color if there is any still there.

WJBodin3,

If you check the pic real close you can see where the partitions would have lined up.

Tony, that's not a paper towel dispenser; it's either a soap dispenser or a light fixture, right? ;-)

I LOVE this shot!

Most facilities have extra adaptive equipment in case it is needed when a piece in use breaks. When hospitals close down, they generally close building by building, and I am always amazed at what is left behind. The place at which I currently work is in the process of closing and we have tons of equipment like this that is somewhat outdated such that no one would want to use it, given how much lighter and more mobile the newer adaptive equipment is.

You can see out the windows, but if the screens weren't there, exciting things would have happened in the way of attempted escapes or attempts acts of self-destruction.

You get a large group racing down the stairs for a meal and you would be thrilled to have the caging installed. :-)
