Ohhh...that's *nasty*. Although I have to say that I'm glad I don't seem to be the only one who has an incredibly deep-seated fear of murky, industrial water (and anything shipwreck-y). I don't just find it 'icky' to look at...it makes my flesh crawl. The thought of going anywhere near it makes my throat constrict.
I've got a mate called Mush. He's very Welsh though, and probably wouldn't stray across the border to scrawl all over an English hospital wall :p (Normally, when it's a nickname, it's pronounced 'Moosh'. Dunno why...!)
"Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou, Romeo? Bring a Black & Decker, some 6" stainless steel screws, some rawl plugs and some struts or this thing's gonna...**CRASH**...aww, crap."
This one really stumped me; I like a mystery. So I asked someone I know who was in the care sector and is now a qualified buildings surveyor. He reckons that they're individual toilet stalls. Small hole at the top for the inlet, bigger hole below for the outlet. The presence of a second hole in each of the stalls suggests that the toilets were changed at some time. The far right stall is patched up, hinting that it was removed (possibly because of breakage).
The galvanised space at the back would've protected the pipes from the damage (and from causing damage, too), and it would also have had a hinged lid that would allow access for maintenance.
Gee, thanks for the whiplash this one caused, lmao! I practically shot across the room when it loaded!
I love the whole gallery. I must admit that I wasn't so sure about it having been through around 100 of your others, but I warmed to it with each new image.
Oh, and completely random info - it's pronounced 'Uhstahvell vooitah'. Trouble is that the 'll' sound doesn't exist in the English language...
...you have to sort of put the tip of your tongue on your palate and blow air across the sides of your tongue (like a slightly bonkers sideways lisp, really), without using your voice at all.
And this concludes my pointless and dull lecture :p
