Telling how to get in kinda ruins the fun, no?

Anyway, it's pretty cool that you were in there in the late 80's, the place must've looked a lot better than it does now.

David D, I think I remember the children's hospital having two theaters, on opposite ends of the buildings... they were empty rooms with a small stage, and small projector windows in back, although in one theater they were covered over. I don't think the patients performed, they were pretty sick people... just walking around was probably difficult.

How did you get into Glenn Dale Hospital to take these pictures, anyway?? It's government property, and the polic regularly bust people for trespassing. I'm especially surprised you managed to get pictures during the daytime without being seen or caught. I went there back in 1989, when I was 19, and the plase is fucking creepy. Me and a bunch of friends went at night and ran around the underground tunnels which are totally scary.. old iron lungs, burnt offering of what appears to be remains of satantic rituals, eerie lights, strange sounds, etc.. And we were caught by the police when we came out of the buildings and arrested for misdemeanor charges. i really like these pictures, however, and I hope one way or another i can get back to that place again before it is completely destroyed and torn down.

Tap bells are the bells you see on the front desk of an old hotel where you only have to punch down once and they ring. The mouth gags were possibly used as tongue protectors if ECT was used.

okay, is any one else wierded out at the word mouth gags? And what the heck are tap bells?

I just recently went to Glenndale hospital last sunday. Instead of checking out the adult section again we went to the childerens section, I found out that the childerens section had a smaller theater. I came to the idea that the childeren would practice plays and what not at their part of the hospital and then would go over to the adult section and perform for the adults. I could be wrong but thats what i think at least.

I grew up in MD And visited Glenndale many times.
There are tunnels going between som of the buildings that got flooded out. This is most likely one of those.
