Thank you for the history stanley!
The tornado or "straight line winds" that hit uptown Natchez caused the major roof damage, we could not put over 100,000 to replace roof at that time.
Jewelry store was in the left corner of front of building. We purchased the bldg. from paramount pictures in the 1940's.
Your information is wrong., my family owned and operated the ritz theatre az nd ritz jewelers from the 1940"s thru the late 1970's..my name is Stanley Oberlin ..father and mother,, Irving and oleta Oberlin

The plywood is caving in. I'm surprised no one said anything about that. Motts, you are a very brave man. I do small scale things and not professionally like this in the summers, but you go where I would NEVER tread!

Great gallery the cinema in my town was damaged like this, in the end they kept the facade (it is grade 2 listed) demolished the rest and built a new library there instead interestingly the library has a film club and has film screenings

I'm surprised I didn't see any; we wound our way from Natchez to the ghost town of Rodney through some back roads using a GPS. One crossing had a bridge that looked like it had collapsed 20 years ago, and another road just faded away into the forest... it was fun and kinda creepy getting lost back there!

Hi. I came across your site via twitter. I love it. I love taking photos of abandoned structures on road trips, however I was always afraid of being arrested for trespassing if I were to do what you do. I love your site. I just wanted to acknowledge how great it is and say thank you for doing what you do. This is good stuff. you may reach me at edmazzola@msn.com if you wish to respond. Thank you.

Why go to such elaborate detail outside? They could have restored it enough to not be an eyesore and spent a little money to attempt preserving the interior.

I was referencing the value as reusable projection equipment, but definitely understand about the collectable value. I have been bitten by that bug before as well. If this building were ever saved, one of these would be a nice addition to the lobby...
