This is beautiful! I love the shell and heart motifs. Making the surrounding pleasant for the patients is very therapeutic. I'm sure the sea air was conducive to health benefits as well. I love the ocean-side! : )

This light does look like a beautiful, luminous pearl...just like that rare and precious "pearl" that a man seeks to find in his life, and will not falter, until it is found...

It does look eerie back here...I remember the strange silence of this massive structure, the vacant windows staring out like a lost soul. One can feel the saddness of its former occupants.

@Yen4Daze-These DO look like the "Good old days"! Resorts back then were simple but very appealing and the community felt like you were visiting family. The Pines truly did look like a great place in its day-I wish I had gone there...

@ilovehorseyrides-Six Flags is a great place! I went to the one in Agawam, MA years ago! I love horses because that's probably the first animal I saw as a baby. My dad had a beautiful arabian mare who was a very gentle and good horse. I used to kiss her on the nose! : )

@Claudia-I think you're right. I remember seeing some of those old pattern books in Windsor Button Shop when I was very young. You wonder what was going on with the patients when these were put up; what their feelings were....now all that's left are "remnants" (not pun intended!) of that sad time.

Wow! That's really interesting, Tom; you really know your stuff! I just have an old 35mm camera, but at least it works. I love the effect that you get with that picture, especially when it is one of my favorite and most familiar subjects, WSH. By the way, in case you didn't know, Saint Veronica, (the one who wiped Jesus' face while he was carrying the cross) is the patron saint of photographers. I just happened to find that out a few days ago, and I thought of you. Keep up the fantastic work, pal! : )

This angled shot reminds me of the Cascada song, 'Your arms are my castle, your heart is my sky...'

Very striking! Thankfully the red color still exists for the dramatic contrast.

Anyway, hope everybody out there is having a great summer! And remember, drive safely! : )

Gee, I wonder if this driver had the old Sammy Hagar song in his head as he drove this car into oblivion: the song, "I can't drive 55"!
; ) Check out the video on Youtube if you haven't seen it-it's really hilarious! They don't make music videos like that any more where they used to tell a story...most of the videos now aren't that great. Anyway, I believe that the '80's were the best-a true Renaissance of pop culture! : )
