Red? Black? White? Creme? I can't think of any colour that would look therapeutic in these places, especially years after they have been abandoned.

From what I understand, a lot of bodies were burried on the grounds, out in the woods. There were a lot of deaths due to the experiments done on these poor people. There was also a lot of abuse that happened.
