i remember going in here b4 the floor colapsedin basement aswell went back few months later it was like this

Hmm.I live locally to Great Barr.

I have ti inform that the hospital had a high number of male nurses right from th e days when it was a colony

I remember large cast iron grids over these holes and would think that they were just for air circulation

The scot family owned a vast area of great barr.this can be seen by the gate houses which are on the birmingham road and ueslett road near scot arms

The colony was once described as only having nails and boot leather brought in as it was totally self efficient in other needs

several of the wards had a piano and a person from the womens institues used to come and olay for everyone, especially at christmas.

This is a transformer which was near to the kitchens.

the floor was parquet floor which butted up to tile edging. The metal on the wall was a long radiator which was covered to prevent people with learning disability burning themselves, Thats what we call them these days.

this is a photo of the main lounge on cartwight home. 60 people used to live here. there was a two foot gap between the beds upstairs in the dormitory.
