I grew up in Granby and my mother worked for a company affiliated with BSS.I remember playing on that stage during a tour when I was 5 years old in 1976. In the 80's we would go to the school on Haloween and freak ourselves out. Dumb kids

To Brian: If you want to know how to get to the sub basement then e-mail me at lxlstarxnoxstarlxl@yahoo.com. I'd tell you via comment but I think Sir Motts prefers us not to talk about getting into locations.

And I thought my school's 1980-something Jands lighting system was ancient...

I like how you decided not to use a black and white quality on this photo.. I think it would be too creepy if it was in black and white; the colour makes it a bittersweet photo.
Amazing eye, keep it up

I saw the basketball court but didn't take any shots as we were in Northampton State Hospital all day and had more to visit on this trip. I don't remember the bowling alley though, I might've missed it.

Funny that you guys mention the carousel... that was the reason i went to see BSS this weekend. My dad volunteered on the carousel in 1964 and 1965. He said that many of the children seemed really happy... he would ask them who their favorite Beatle was, and that would always get them talking. He also said that the Beatles was about the onlyt music that the man who ran the carousel would play.
when i sent there, as you know the carousel is gone. the building is still there on top of a small hill, but now used to something else. there is a fence around it and security cameras... so i didnt get too close.

To Motts: You may not have recognized it as an alter, I just guessed it was an alter. Its graffitied with "Worship my asshole" was written in spraypaint on it.

I just went there yesterday and I'm just curious if you saw the basketball court, bowling alley, locker rooms and such in the sub basement of the building? And if so, if you purposely chose not to photograph them?

Do they just let these buildings sit abandoned until they just fall down? Then it's,"Oh, it'll cost too much to do anything?"
