Maybe next time then. There definitely are and some are pretty secluded. I've driven around just for the heck of it and then all of a sudden this big abondoned complex is right there in front of me. Also, the Catskills are not far as you probably know and there is a TON of history there as well as abondoned stuff! And thank you for responding and talking to me, I don't mean to sound like an idiot, but I feel really honored now! I very much admire your work and wish I could have seen what you have seen. One more quick thought. My father was a photographer and when he died I inherited all his photographs and negatives, some are on glass or metal plates. He was known for taking shots of the city so I have boxes of Albany photos from the early days until about 1990. He took a lot of when they were tearing down sections of the city to build something like the "South Mall" as it was called then. Or if there was a fire, he was usually there photgraphing it. Anyway, I had planned to put all this on a website called OldAlbany but I just haven't had time yet. If you have any interest in looking at these to see what was where, let me know. I would be glad to share them with you.
BTW, I love the shift from green @ the top, to pink to blue.........
They didn't have soap dispensers - - soap came in BARS...remember?!?
Back when these places were still in operation, the mentally ill were, for the most part, forgotten.......written off by society. Although there were many cases of neglect & mistreatment, this sticker reminds us that some staff members actually cared for the patients.

Yep, it was pretty empty except for some oddly arranged furniture... I may have taken a photo at a later date.

Nice illustration find Felyne!
Yeah, it was the same deal with "Session 9". I was disappointed.
There's nothing like Opacity! Thanks Mr. Motts for sharing your passion!
We appreciate it!

The yellow object appears to be a small trash can.
With a view like that, I wouldn't have to pretend to be nuts.......

These old asylums had the most interesting construction designs. Love the angled rooms & hallways. I wish they could begin using the artistry & craftsmanship again in modern buildings, but I guess it would cost a fortune.
EldoKid - I remember the spacepod/bubble dash that the '60-'62 Chryslers had...it was way cool!

I think it was rusted that way, after trying to turn it...
Man, I like this picture, Motts. It's like a step back in time, only in color!
Radiator heat, cool 1950's chair, and the peeling paint almost looks like moss, sort of a paisley effect. Awesome. Thx for the wallpaper.
