So, they tore these beautiful pieces of architecture down, only to have the new plans fall through?!!!?? What a colossal waste! Makes me sick, really.

the one in the blue plad shirt was acually a patient i worked for verland and the client i had , had pictures of being there standing when it was painted
I have a recovered Dixmont brick in my room! Most of the time bricks and blocks from demo'd buildings are sold as clean fill for contractors leveling land.
I remember times when patients would dissapear for days, and when they showed back up, they couldn't remember anything of where they had been or what happened. Electric shocks and labotomies were common practice here......
This was the TV room. I remeber walking into it when the medicine started to wear off and I could function. Upon entering the room, I noticed the TV jumping from one channel to another everyime someone would move around. The static electricity was so thick in this particular room, your hair would stand on end, and people would shock each other by touching.....strange electrons in this room for sure. I stayed out after just a couple of visits....
The bathrooms were always crowded. Never any privacy, as it was the only place your were allowed to smoke inside the building. And most patients weren't allowed outside, so, this was was always a beehive of negative neurons......There were the ones with the homosexual persuasion that hung out there, and also the ones that liked to have others burn them with lit cigarettes......oh yeah, nice place to shower and do your business.....
I remember being able to look out with the warden as he kindly pointed out to me the building called Western penitentiary, which sat in the middle of the River about 15 miles away. I was warned that that was where I was headed if I didn't stop smoking pot....Well, I did finally quit, about 15 years after my release....lol I was 17 when I was there, and no one was forcing me to do anything I didn't want to do, at least that was my attitude.....lol
I tried to visit my almamater about 5 or 6 years ago and it must have been around the time walmart was trying to do something t was a magificient structure, but very cold and hard.....as were most of the medical staff. I do remember the nice young lady that worked in the more modern arts and crafts building, who looked out for me while I was there. And I would love to thank her and her husband for helping to get me the hell outta there......
