this kind of stone (non poreous) maybe marble ..., would be immune to the insidious nature of water.
Was this a basement entry...leading from the river to the upper levels? Or a tomb in Egypt? Naw, there is a window there. Definitly American!

This looks like some sort of twisted dream from Alice and Wonderland. Great composition.

It's the mark of great architecture if a building can withstand all the things this has gone through. No wonder they called it a castle.

It kind of gives one a sense of melancholy to know that this place is so deteriorated. It's so lovely. I bet the interior, when it was still intact, was almost like transporting to another era.
