I agree with Thad alot of the clients could walk around the campus and were free to do as they wished. They were also taken on trips, to sporting events and concerts, etc. From what I witnessed the staff did treat them like family. I did work direct care and my clients were wonderful most didn't have any family that visited them at all. When they were put into the community they were put into neighborhood where people were afraid of them and acted as if they were lepers.

What imaginations you people have, there was no blood room I think you all watch too many horror stories. The looked cages kept supplies and medication when I worked there.

I worked here for many years and the dormitories were not set up with beds just lining the walls. It was set up like individual rooms. You people have quite the imaginations. Also, I never in my years there so anyone mistreated or abused. On the contrary most of the workers cared deeply for the people they were taking care of.

My friends and I were in there last night and we saw quite a few wheel chairs. They were in the tunnels, at least 3, and we saw one out of a random door leading outside. It was just sitting in the rain.

Is this a picture of the famous "room of blood" I hear so much about? I grew up in the area, and Paul Dever is about 5 mins away from my house. I went in there for the first time yesterday, searching for the Morgue and the "room of blood" we all have heard of.

like u said Thad you had to work there. the kitchen was the best place to work. the food was good and eveyone got along . I haven't seen anyone since I left. remember the chute that we would throw the trash bags down and press the button for the compactor. to crush the trash and throwing down cabbage crates to hear them crunch. and smoking on the stair wells . lily mercier would catch me smoking and i would say its not me lily.

I USE TO LIVE REAL CLOSE TO THE SCHOOL BEFORE IT CLOSED. IT WAS VERY INTERSETING GOING OUT AND PLAYING IN THE WOODS (BEFORE THE CURRENT INDUSTRIAL PARK) LOTS OF OLD ROADS, MILITARY BARRACKS FOUNDATIONS. A FEW BUILDINGS , OLD FENCES GUARD TOWERS. LOTS OF THINGS LIKE THAT. LOTS OF MEMORIES AND GOOD TIMES WITH FREINDS, AND YES WE GOT INTO A LITTLE TROUBLE OUT THERE TOO. LOL. ALOT HAS CHANGED AND ITS BEEN YEARS SINCE IVE BEEN THERE. I REMEMBER FINDING A SMALL CEMENTARY OUT THERE ALSO A MONUMENT BUILT BY POWS OF WW2 IT WAS COOL, FOUND OLD BOTTLES STUFF LIKE THAT BUT WE WERE YOUNG AND JUST ENJOYED THE OPEN SPACES AND THE COUNTLESS ADVENTURES WE HAD . SOME DAY I SHOULD WRITE A BOOK ABOUT IT AND GIVE IT OUT TO MY BUDDIES. THANKS FOR THE PICS .

went there a few days ago with a friend of mine. We got into one building but it was really trashed inside. The sun was going down and we didn't get to see much. I did see a few old patient charts with pictures on them, which were really neat. I also found some old boxes of magazines and clothing. It's like the place that time forgot. There was a raccoon hanging out of one of the third floor windows giving us dirty looks and that was the scariest thing that took place. Also it looks like people party/squat there. I was afraid of running into a crack head or a homeless person but I def have the itch to go back again!
EW X Patient, you ate EXPIRED soup??? That's gross!!!!
