Id pay to stay in there for a night, a night in a long abandoned hotel sounds like a real cool adventure and an excuse to steal some hotel souveniers without getting them charged to my credit card like all hotels today do if you steal a towel, etc.

the old elevator of blood must have rolled through here.

I can recall billboards advertising the Pine's as Jerry Lewis's "favorite hotel". How sad...
Reminds me of Jacobs Ladder with a bit of Alien thrown in for good measure.

These probably died because they did not receive enough mosture at the roots due to the deeper hard pots. The carpet had moisture from both above (the failing roof), as well as a nice moist carpet to help them grow.

Believe it or not, this used to be the 'in' look for winter resorts. I know of several that were used for training in these sports and quite a few looked this ugly.

I love the shots with Drie in this series. The presence of a person in these places sets up an interesting contrast (e.g. abandoned, but still occupied in a way). This one in screams exploration to me.

Nice job!

Maybe they thought that they would sell the site to someone else shortly after closing it? It would probably be more appealing (and easier for everyone) to just sell the site and the furniture all together. If that was the plan, looks like it didn't work out.

As always, fantastic pics Motts!

I don't know what it is about these winter resorts but in the 80s I trained in a resort with the same mixed-era look, although it was in the midwest..

As a teenager, I spent a couple of weeks a year here as part of a student organization. Spoke to a packed house from that very stage. My last visit there was in 1991 - I've been wondering what ever happened to this place. Thank you for sharing the pictures with us.

My family spent 2-3 February school breaks at the Pines. The food was amazing. We loved the ice rink and indoor pool.
