The pole in the middle looks as if it cutting the picture in half, therefor making the sides on either side of the pole look symmetrical.

The transom window above the door provides cross-ventilation, common in places built before air conditioning was widely used.
Be green introducing natures natural carpet turn mold into carpeting for your home.
So if the gate infront of the window is to bring air in then what is it doing above the door also. .
Give me a break a bunch of cry babies on this forum. Mental places like this is what they are mental mind control. All the staff cared about was paychecks, and drugs. Out of all the patients that entered here I have yet to hear from one who left, and had a decent life. It is real easy to give people drugs, and lock them away rather than actually trying to solve the problems to help them in society. It takes people to go to school to learn how to care for others? What type of person are you in the first place no emotion at all. Since some people make quick judgements on here about others I'm sure your attitude was the same with your patients. You were apart of the problem with these hospitals, and you don't want to admit it.

Yes, I've been back here a few more times; everything seemed the same structurally, albeit more vandalized.
Thanks Motts for your excellent eye in lining up the shot so it does look like a reflection on the floor of the window in front. Until I read your caption, I didn't realize that part of the floor was gone and it was the top of the window on the floor below.
Motts, have you ever been back to see if the floor did collapse, or see other things?

If you read some of the background on this place, it's clear that a lot of the water damage is because the state kept the water on to this place long after the heat was out. So the pipes froze, cracked and then millions of gallons of water went running out all over the place.
