Ive been in these areas too..they were always damp feeling & very creepy to me...we the students had to go on tours thru many different areas...many of which did NOT feel very cheerful at all.
I remember walking down these very narrow hallways...when people were coming the opposite way it was a tight squeeze. These halls always seemed so creepy..esp going down to the lower floors
This is sickening...Im guessing..teenagers with Nothing better to do than destroy things that are none of there business. I guess since I was in training at Broadacres and saw 1st hand how sad and lonley so many of the elderly people seemed to be..its always made me angry to see what the mindless..heartless jerks do.
hmmm ill bet many of these wheelchairs I handled for the patients..makes me sad to see this now and know these very people are no longer living but im sure are now alot happier than when they were at this place
another angle of the room the patients would "relax" in with. I went to this area many times in the day............wasnt alot of noise in there..except the noise of the tv
wow this taks me back!!!!!!!! This area here is where the patients would sit..either in their wheelchairs or be assited to a couch or single chair to sit..look out of the window or listen to the tv...the room had plants on tables and pictures on the walls....wasnt a large room at all. but was very bright and airy
OMG I also remember this area....i used to push wheelchairs with patients in them to this area of the hospital...most would just sit there with a a stare on their faces...almost not even looking at anything at all..just so sad......i also remember hearing that MANY of the patients familys did not visit them as much as they once did........... :(
back in the early 80s i was a nurses aid In training at Broadacres but that didnt last too long ... the look in many of the patients eyes...soo sad and alone...broke my heart.... :(
I spent 6 yrs in the KSH childrens unit, as a patient. It opened about 1960, We were told that the building was origionally the Mary Muff TB hospital. We were very well treated, and I I attended Kazoo Central HS while a patient. This is not the building I lived in, is anyone familiar with the Mary Muff building?
