That is an amazing story, Carol. Bless you!
yes, davegangster, I agree. Likewise if you go inside a place like this just to scare yourself shitless, then you will, in fact, scare yourself shitless. Go on a ghost train at the fairground instead lol

I have only drove by the place when I was younger never had a chance to attempt exploring the place, but a good friend of mine told me the guard let him and some other people look in the windows of the crematorium. But it was at least 8 years ago that he had told me about it. I also remember him saying something about tunnels or sewers near a water tower that people went in, near there does anyone know anything about that.
I just lived in the Glenn Dale area and we drove by the hospital all the time until they shut down the road at the railroad tracks by the old market. I have been reading the comments, one big problem I have seen is that some of you posting comments need to learn how to spell. I can tell who paid attention in school and who didn't. Put a spell check on your comment before you submit the comment. You won't look so retarded. Especially that big comment the kid left who claimed his father was a Prince George's County cop. The kid can't even spell George and he lives in the county... what a dummy.

I agree you people need to stop bad talking glenn dale. pg county just hired a firm and they are about to rennovate the complex. if you are wondering how I know is because my mom works for pg parks and planning commission. glenn dale is wonderful, you will never see buildings like that ever again. they were designed by nathan c. weyth and he also designed the first oval office. they are an important part of history!!!!!!
This place was so, so beautiful in the early 80's. My sisters and I grew up here. My father was in charge of the power plant and we had to live on the property. Our house still stands there. There was a green house, baseball field, playgrounds....all now overgrown wth trees our house was on Holly circle...You can't imagine how beautiful it was. I have many pics of when we lived there. One when it snowed like 18 inches, I was about 10...totally beautiful. I found this sight because I wanted to see who I could write and get permission to take my son to see where I have so many fond memories from.

Also, the place is PACKED with asbestos. Making it not so healthy to be around.

Used to go up there when I was in high school. Drinking on the roof and stuff. Almost got arrested leaving there one night and found out the District of Columbia owns the property. Making trespassing a Federal offense. Never went back again. Have Fun/scary memeries of the place though.

some friends and i went last night and it is definitely NOT worth going to. sure it's scary as hell, but so not worth the trespassing charge all 15 of us got when the cops caught us. =/
