The whole maintenance employee thing sounds ok the possibility of an old patient bathroom partially converted and left that way because of the fact that it was switched to an employees bathroom and they were "sane" and why bother to spend the money on removing everything and repainting. Pennhurst was never in good financial shape, thats supposedly one of the reasons for the way it was ran.
These are great pictures
And very depressing
I am Ironicly watching a show about PennHurst right now
Ghost Adventures
And i live in Pensilvenya which gives me chills
There was a guy , there who tore a cast iron radator from the wall and through it out the window that was bared, then jumped 2nd floor.
he was then left with broken legs, he would stuff has cast with sh-t
all day.
I worked all over this place in the 80s as a pipe insulator the tunnels where hot lots of steam. I recall the people and staff also. we had nick names for some. You had to watch your back all the time it was sad and nerve full. I read , some would like to visit some day WHY?
I had to force myself every day to go to work. THE PLACE WAS LIKE NO OTHER. THIS PLACE LIVES WITH ME EVERY DAY
i would never go there i had a nightmare about that place and as i was about to go into it i looked up and a feeling of complete dread took over me something about as i go in i will never get out
i think it could be that the patients were called from their dorm rooms to the operating rooms by number example is room 03 goes to operating room 03 and so forth
a few summers back i worked with a hired crew to clean the facility out so it could leveled to the ground as a graveyard and memorial for the troops. Clearly our work was for nothing seeing as it is still standing.
what they did to those people was wrong. just because they were born with issues doesn't mean they should have been treated like animals. They would pull people's teeth out if they would bite someone. The pain will never leave the people's lives that were there. it just proves how alot of our society creates an issue with people that don't act or look like us. it's quite sad.
Truman: just because you do not know what we are talking about doesn't make us c*nts. If you had a real interest in old abandoned buildings, particularly old abandoned mental hospitals, you'd have come across Session 9. It's a movie that takes place in an abandoned asylum. I haven't seen it but I've come across it and I know what it is. I think you're very lost.
All I'm going to say is that this is pretty well drawn. I don't think a disabled child could draw this well, not trying to say they weren't capable of such a simple thing as doodling but for the most part even normal children can't draw this well. This looks like something an adult drew and colored, also noticing there's no "coloring outside the lines." The handwriting that names the sheep look like an adult's.
