Most facilities have extra adaptive equipment in case it is needed when a piece in use breaks. When hospitals close down, they generally close building by building, and I am always amazed at what is left behind. The place at which I currently work is in the process of closing and we have tons of equipment like this that is somewhat outdated such that no one would want to use it, given how much lighter and more mobile the newer adaptive equipment is.
