I love vintage office/medical equipment!
Can you imagine trying to live on $76 each week? I have pay stubs from a job at a bank I had in 1979, my pay was $498.00 a MONTH.
Nice Pews
So this place still has power even though abandoned for years? Who's paying the power bills? If I go one month without a payment, National Greed pulls my plug!!
I can't believe someone hasn't reused this (hotel, apartments) or is that stipulation in the old deed prohibiting all hopes of reuse?
cozy!

Thanks! Cool yeah I've got some places marked over there but haven't tried them yet; there's Fort Adams in Newport and Dutch Island looks interesting...

Looks like a fire extinguisher system; these weren't required back in 1914, so they were piped in below the ceilings to avoid costly renovation work. The building was also given extra stairwells to bring it up to code.

Yep, whatever bulbs were still working were illuminated. Although the power house was shut down, the buildings were still hooked up to the grid for whatever reason...
Agree wanderer, just to think these pictures represented real lives that demand more respect than just thrown pictures in an abandoned building.
What a great shot! I've just recently found this website and what artistry!

Motts, the reverence you show these buildings and the past inhabitants shows that you are a true artist, keep up the great work! Just wanted to tell you about a site that might be a great trip... in Naragansett RI (or there abouts) was an old Naval/Air base with numerous empty decaying buildings, might be worth a trip, I think it would be a great window into our past, WWII-era and post era. Keep up the great work!

Cheers!
