Worked here from 1975 to 1983 .Then Jemison was closed . Residents and staff moved back to Partlow. other residents and staff transferred to other Centers around the state.....

Love reading the history of AL since relocating here and your pieces of abandoned places are fascinating.

Not sure who owns the property these days, but I'd bet they wouldn't want anyone in there without some kind of permission or clearance - it's just a big lawsuit waiting to happen.

I know the Bryce Hospital is being renovated, but the old Jemison Center is abandoned. My question is, do they let lagit paranormal investigators in?

I'm sure it looked a lot nicer when it was in use and newer.

@ BKW ~ I believe the old mattresses had handles to make it easier to flip over. It was common practice those years to flip your mattress every few months or so in order that it would wear evenly. I think they are made different now and you don't have to do that. I recall when they first came on the market, an actual selling point was that you "don't have to flip your mattress!"

Enjoying this gallery for the second time. The photo is just so clean and fresh, like it was taken long ago. I think that means far away from fast food joints and discount stores with their plastic bags.

I can't imagine why anybody would want to touch those dirty old mattresses. This place looks pretty trashed
