This looks like the 2nd floor, possibly in the back room where supposedly children were housed. All the heating vents are ripped down like this now.
You can barely see these marble floors now. They are so caked with years of mud and debris.
There's hardly a mattress to be found in here now. People were throwing them out the windows and jumping out onto them (for what I don't know, lol).
I believe this is coming in the front entrance.

Sadly all the HVAC units have been torn down and the floor is nowhere near this "clean" now. But you're right, this building is built like a tank, despite massive roof damage. The stair wells are steel and the floors solid concrete.
It was a beautiful building back in its day and it did indeed have a white dome. Rumor has it some teens set a fire in the attic part, triggering a 3 fire alarm and totally destroying the roof (the 3rd floor is still intact though).
Yay, new gallery AND a place I've actually investigated with my team tons of times! I am so happy to see this today!

I tell ya, walking up this rocky pathway at night and then the building suddenly appearing out of the pitch darkness is something that sends chills down my spine every time!
