Another interesting tidbit... Back in the old days women would have babies in the OR regardless. The woman would labor in another room and then have to be moved to the OR, which was also the delivery room. Nowadays everything takes place in one room, the LDR. (labor, delivery, recovery room).

This is an OR table, not a chair. it definately would have had a mattress or foam pad of some kind on it. It was probably taken or thrown away. Stirrups can still be found on OR tables, since the surgeon would position the patient in what is known as the lithotomy position to perform pelvic or urologic procedures. I worked in an OR where such procedures were performed.
