Apparently this place has been remodeled and turned into apartments and condos. They did a wonderful job and the residences are beautiful BUT I find something very uneasy about living in a place that once may or may not have been home to such horrors as patient mistreatment or death. Although I'm not afraid of the supernatural, I often wonder if any of these new residents have experienced anything "unusual" and if the new owners are having any difficulties renting based on what the property once was?
Guys, hate to burst your bubbles but it's not a reflection, shadow, ghost, person, etc. It's just light that's coming in from behind the camera. If you look below the window, all the way to the right you can see a vertical line of light (with a few nicks)... this line simply continues into the window, which gives the illusion of the "person" you're seeing.
And i'd just like to say thank you.
I rented the book "Project 17" from my high school library a few weeks ago, and ever since i've been entranced by this place. Your work has really helped me appriciate this place more. It's really a shame i'll never get to see it.
I like this picture. The words are so basic "Extreme Precautions" Makes you just wonder what laid behind that door back in the day when the hospital was open. Pretty much seems like anything could be possible.
Anyone read project 17? I believe (i could be wrong) that, that story took place in danvers hospital. The whole time they talk about the number 7. In one part of the story they talk about seven angels going up the wall. Creepy. i have chills.
I would love to live in a room like this - just a single, huge room with that ceiling. Well, not in a mental institution, but you know what I mean... It's a shame there's no alternative to demolition when magical old buildings are left to rot.
As others have said - 1979 doesn't seem like that long ago. And to see such extreme deterioration in that time makes me take a better look at my 62-y.o. face in the mirror. Or, maybe I should refrain.
