Suasponta, how very true.
This picture makes me cold with the shadows and water. Was it cold down there?

About the masks pictured...From left to right...

Left: M-44/1944 civilian mask (volksgasmaske)...Alloy filter, also came with a cardboard filter when alloys ran out...

Second from left: VM-37/1937 civilian/military ? mask (volksgasmaske 37)...I can't see if it has a neck strap on the back which would make it civilian and an earlier version...Civil defense was issued these too....

Third in line is the GM 38/1938 military mask (and carrier)..gasmaske 38..

And lastly on the right looks like a 200 series gasmaske ? used through the 1930's...A civilian mask for industrial purposes instead of warfare applications...
If not then a mask used through the 40's and 50's that is made of rubber instead of rubberized canvas...The mask looks rubber in the picture which would date it later than the 200 series...Anyways the exhale valve gives it away as an industrial mask...
As far as I can tell that is what it is...Perhaps that is an ID card under it...?...

Good for the explorers to put the items on display instead of hoarding or reselling.
