In the house where I grew up, the attic was filled with all kinds of great old stuff, including a WWII gas mask. . . I wanted to keep that in particular, but the whole lot was traded for desperately needed remodelling. . . *sigh*

Those gas masks are absolutely terrifying.

Its kind of strange to think of these walls slowly fading into darkness after the tour has ended and the bunker is empty once again.

This stuff is all about defense against air raids. The one on the top of the stack says "Air Defense in Pictures". The smaller text at the bottom says "from Undersecretary Dr. Knipfer and Captain Lieutenant, retired, Burkhardt in the German Ministry of Aviation" The middle booklet under that is titled "Air Defense, National Socialist German Worker's Party". My guess would be they used the booklets as references to play the game and learn the skills at the same time.

If you weren't shooting digital I would say this was a double exposure.
